How likely are you to unbox a knife or glove from a CS2 case? Valve published official weapon-case drop rates in 2017 through Perfect World, after Chinese regulations required loot-box probabilities to be disclosed. Those rates — 79.92% Mil-Spec, 15.98% Restricted, 3.20% Classified, 0.64% Covert, and 0.26% knife or gloves — carried over unchanged into CS2 and match large community samples.

Standard weapon cases use one drop table: Mil-Spec (Blue) 79.92% (~1 in 1.25), Restricted (Purple) 15.98% (~1 in 6), Classified (Pink) 3.20% (~1 in 31), Covert (Red) 0.64% (~1 in 156), Rare Special / knife or gloves (Gold) 0.26% (~1 in 385). There is no pity timer — each opening is independent. Souvenir packages, sticker capsules, Armory collections, and Genesis Terminals use different tables; the ROI calculator applies the matching odds per container type.
Expected Value & ROI Math
Expected Value (EV) multiplies each possible drop's live market price by its drop probability, then sums the outcomes. If a case plus key costs $2.80 and the EV of its drops is $1.80, average return is about −36%. Very few cases have positive EV. StatTrak and Special Patterns
After rarity is rolled, eligible weapon-case items have a 10% chance to be StatTrak™. StatTrak versions of the same skin typically cost 2–5× more. Paint seed still applies on top: Doppler phases, Fade percentage, and Case Hardened blue gems can multiply value far beyond the base rarity rate.
Why Understanding Odds Matters
